Those who play golf can usually learn to hit the ball and putt in 15 to 25 minutes. Non-golfers take a little longer and are helped by reading the instructions. To enjoy the Arnold Palmer Indoor Golf Game you only need some interest in golf. Non-golfers and novices are attracted by the realism and miniature scale. Most seasoned golfers like the competition of the game. It doesn't take long for all players of the Arnold Palmer Indoor Golf Game to hit that great shot giving them the same satisfaction you get out on the course.
A 7'' tall plastic replica figure of Arnold Palmer is on the end of a 25'' aluminum shaft with a plastic grip.
As you push down on the trigger the club's backswing occurs then a pull up starts the downswing and follow through.
One of the 12 strofoam balls are hit and lands on target hopefully in the fairway or on the green.
The 6 interchangeable 4'' clubs clip into the figures hands one at a time.
Each club has a purpose and can be hit with different force so a full set of 14 clubs are unnecessary.
The driver hits the ball low to the ground for a maximum distance of 12'-15' (comparable to 240 - 300 yards). As you expect, the balls distance is 80% carry and 20% roll.
The 4 wood is a little shorter club and slightly more lofted for a higher and shorter shot.
Generally the shot is more accurate but only travels around 11'.
A 5 iron shot will travel nearly 9' wth little if any roll.
The 7 iron is shorter than the 5 iron and more lofted causing a higher flight path. The ball actually spins backwards in flight and on the green causing a draw back of a few inches.
The wedge is an all purpose club around the green. When hit full force the ball will travel around 5' but can back up as much as 6''. The shorter pitches, chips, and putt takes a soft touch.
The styrofoam ball is replaced with a marble once you reach the green. The marble will create a more consistent roll.
Putting takes as much practice as the other clubs combined.
The putting green is a 1 square yard movable Styrofoam surface.
The game comes complete with little assembly necessary.
Each game includes a water hazard, 2 sand traps, 4 boundary makers, cup, pin, and flag.
The instructions have a course layout and scorecard, but I found designing your own holes is much more fun.
